Our client, a leading provider of technical event and production solutions, is looking for an experienced Technical Project Manager specializing in rigging and lighting to join their dynamic team. In this role, you will oversee the technical planning, coordination, and delivery of live events, exhibitions, and corporate productions.

This position is ideal for someone with a strong hands-on technical background in rigging and lighting who enjoys combining engineering know-how with organizational leadership and client interaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the technical planning and execution of event projects focused on rigging, lighting, and stage technology.
  • Collaborate with clients, production managers, and creative teams to translate concepts into feasible technical designs and documentation.
  • Prepare CAD drawings, rigging plots, and equipment lists using software such as Vectorworks Spotlight, AutoCAD, or Braceworks.
  • Coordinate with internal departments (video, audio, logistics, warehouse) and external partners (suppliers, venues, and subcontractors).
  • Oversee on-site setup and dismantling, ensuring compliance with safety regulations (BGR 500 / SQP2 / IGVW) and risk assessments.
  • Supervise and support rigging and lighting crews during setup and show operation, ensuring efficiency and technical precision.
  • Manage budgets, scheduling, and material planning, optimizing resources and timelines.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to junior staff and freelancers.
  • Ensure all installations meet industry standards and structural load safety requirements.
  • Represent the company professionally in client meetings, site visits, and technical briefings.

Skills & Background

  • Proven experience in technical event production, with a focus on rigging and lighting.
  • Strong understanding of event rigging principles, load calculations, truss systems, and lighting setups.
  • Proficiency in Vectorworks Spotlight, Braceworks, or similar CAD tools for technical design and load planning.
  • Solid knowledge of lighting control systems (e.g. MA Lighting, ETC, ChamSys) and DMX / Art-Net / sACN protocols.
  • Familiarity with motor control systems (e.g. Movecat, ChainMaster, CM Lodestar) and hoist safety standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, structural plans, and safety documentation.
  • Fluent in German and English (written and spoken).
  • Willingness to travel and work on-site at events across Europe.
  • Valid Class B driving license preferred.
